Metropolitan Federal Constitiency of Borno state, Abdulsalam Kachalla said he will prioritize and encourage the implementation of National Healthcare Act in his dealing with the Borno state government.

Kachalla, of the  People Democratic Party (PDP) said much as the law has been passed and enacted at the federal level it is expedient that it should be domesticated at the state.

"It is surprising that a state like Borno with all the humanitarian challenges is lagging behind in the implementation of an important public service instrument like National Health Act.

"We will do our best to promote better health care for our people especially those still the rural areaa," said the politician.

Borno state is one of the six Northeast Nigerian states where the ongoing Boko Haram insurgency had devastated most public service facilities including 267 hospitals and clinics.

Since the National Health Act came into force in 2015,  only a few states have been able to implement.
